Mineral Water ~ Questions and Answers
Dianne and Wayne's Comments
Q. I hear that drinking Mineral Waters is healthier than Purified Waters and helps one to live a longer life. Is this true?
Vata-Gurgur mineral water spring
A. "Not necessarily, if you you consider all the life promoting factors.
Many health authors recently have said that high minerals is associated with longevity; however, every one of those places, where there is increased lifespan, has other multiple similar characteristics such as:
levels of pollution;
- freshly grown, mineral-rich, local produce;
- low electromagnetic
- little or no use of ‘polluted’ commercial body care
- a low stress lifestyle and so on.
Therefore, they cannot pin it on the Mineral Water exclusively as the sole factor of living a longer life."
Q. Wayne, do you coach your clients to drink mineral water also filtered through a Carbon Block filter?
Carbon Block Filter
A. "No. On the contrary, many other raw foodists believe natural spring and mineral waters are best. Others say a Carbon Block filter with tap water leaves the minerals intact.
However, something that I feel needs to be mentioned is that the water from these processes, which are not purified, unfortunately contain toxins that are likely more
damaging to the body than consuming some hard
inorganic minerals that are also left behind in the water after filtering."
Q. How efficient is a Carbon Block filter?
Reverse Osmosis Membrane
A. "Carbon Block filters are usually 5 or 1 microns in size compared to .0001 micron size for a Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) membrane. This pales in comparison to a R.O. which removes considerably more.
Reverse Osmosis is the process of forcing a solvent from a region of high solute concentration through a semipermeable membrane to a region of low solute concentration by applying a pressure in excess of the osmotic pressure. So as you can see, R.O. is dramatically superior for purifying, as opposed to just Carbon Block filtering the water.
Using a Carbon Block filter is like like sticking your finger in a hole in a dam to stop water from coming through! Why consume water that is comparatively still polluted 'Dirty' water?!"
Q. Can one become mineral deficient by drinking Purified Water?
A. "No, not if living a healthy lifestyle. Most people are not deficient in their minerals due solely to the incorrect pH of the water!
Most people are mineral deficient because they eat a poor quality, acidic-forming diet in general! In my opinion, acidity leaches alkaline minerals out of the body, so be sure to eat your Baby Bok Choy, Celery, Cucumber, Broccoli Shoots, Lettuce, Kale, Spirulina and Swiss Chard among other Whole Organic Pure Fresh Ripe Raw Plant Foods."
Q. Now that I know that I do not need to obtain my minerals from my water, what is the optimal amount of calcium that one needs from food for healthy bones?
A. "Rather than following an acid-forming diet, I say to
‘Eat 80-100% Whole Organic Pure Fresh Ripe Raw Plant Foods’.
From 150 to 250 mg a day is the average calcium dietary consumption rate in long-lived healthy cultures that have the lowest incidences of osteoporosis."
